Organ of Corti receives an Honorary Mention in the Digital Music and Sound Art Category of the Prix Ars Electronica 2012
Launched in 1987, the Prix Ars Electronica is the acknowledged trend barometer in the international media art scene. Each year, juries composed of well-known experts single out outstanding work for recognition. The competition’s seven categories celebrate the vibrant diversity of contemporary media art.
A total of 3,674 entries from 72 countries were submitted for prize consideration to the 2011-12 Prix Ars Electronica. This year’s most popular category was Digital Musics & Sound Art with 834 submissions. The jury for Digital Music and Sound art comprised Martin Supper (DE) Dajuin Yao (US) AGF (DE) Phil Mossman (UK) Christina Kubisch (DE).
Liminal are extremely pleased to receive the Honorary Mention for Organ of Corti, in the year that fellow Bangoriad, Jo Thomas wins the Golden Nica, Digital Music and Sound Art for her piece Crystal Sounds of a Synchrotron.
The official awards ceremony will be held in conjunction with the Ars Electronica Gala on 31 August 2012 at the Brucknerhaus Linz, during the Ars Electronica Festival 31 August to 3 September 2012.
